Our Story

Built by a landlord,
for landlords and tenants.

We're not a statewide directory. We're a DC platform specializing in Housing Choice Voucher lease-ups — because we've lived the empty unit, the failed inspection, and the good tenant who left after one year.

The Problem We're Solving

There's a disconnect between landlords and voucher holders that hurts everyone

Landlord Myths

Many landlords avoid voucher programs due to misconceptions about payment reliability, inspection requirements, and tenant quality. The reality? The voucher (HAP) share is government-backed and paid directly to you each month.

Tenant Struggles

Voucher holders often face discrimination and limited options. They spend months searching for landlords who accept their vouchers, sometimes losing their assistance before finding a home.

The Disconnect

Housing authorities work hard to help families, but there's no efficient way to connect qualified tenants with welcoming landlords. We're bridging that gap.

Why DC-only is the whole point

Statewide sites optimize for Maryland and Virginia volume. But your rent, your inspections, and your rules are set by DCHA — not a national average. Being local isn't a limitation. It's the entire advantage.

Tuned to DCHA, not a template

Payment standards, HQS prep, and abatement rules are DC-specific — every number here is DC.

No out-of-market noise

Every tenant in your matches is a verified DC voucher holder — no MD/VA inquiries that will never rent your unit.

A community that files the same paperwork

HQS and inspection tips from DC landlords who deal with the same DCHA you do.

Who We Are

Deep Roots in DC Housing

DMV Housing was founded in 2026 by a 10-year DC landlord who is a licensed real estate agent in DC, Maryland, and Virginia, a DC-licensed property manager, and a software engineer. With a portfolio that's ~99% voucher holders, we've seen firsthand what works.

We're not just a tech company — and not outsiders guessing at the voucher program. We've lived the RFTA packets, the HQS inspections, and the turnover for a decade, and built the tool we wished existed.

Dispel Myths

Educate landlords about the reality of voucher programs: reliable payments, quality tenants, and straightforward processes.

Fill Vacancies Faster

Help landlords find qualified tenants quickly, so units spend less time empty.

House Families

Make it easier for voucher holders to find quality housing within payment standards, ending the cycle of endless searching.

Bridge the Gap

How We're Different

Built from real experience, designed for real results

DC-Only, On Purpose

Statewide sites bury your DC unit under MD and VA noise. We only serve Washington, DC — ward-aware, on DCHA payment standards, so every match is someone who can actually rent your place.

  • No out-of-jurisdiction inquiries to wade through
  • Tenants shown are actively looking, not months-stale

Pre-Vetted Profiles

A verified tenant profile includes voucher verification, references, and a profile score. Landlords can make informed decisions before reaching out.

  • Voucher upload and verification
  • Reference information included

Payment Standards Built-In

We integrate DCHA payment standards so landlords and tenants can see at a glance whether a listing is within budget. No more guesswork.

  • DC 2026 payment limits included
  • Automatic affordability matching

Fresh Listings Always

Our heartbeat system ensures all listings are active and current. Landlords confirm availability regularly, so tenants never waste time on stale listings.

  • 14-day freshness verification
  • Auto-archive for inactive listings
For DCHA

Working alongside DCHA's process

We're built around how DC actually works — RFTA, payment standards, and HQS — to help more DC families get housed before their vouchers expire.

How DMV Housing Helps

  • Increase landlord participation

By dispelling myths and showcasing benefits, we bring more quality landlords into voucher programs.

  • Reduce voucher expiration

Faster matching means fewer families lose their vouchers before finding housing.

  • Fair Housing compliance

Our platform is designed with fair housing principles at its core.

Partnership Opportunities

We're always looking to collaborate with housing authorities to improve outcomes for voucher holders. Whether it's data sharing, joint outreach, or custom solutions, we're open to partnership discussions.
